I am nothing without my Sahib
I’m trying not to be a glutton
Just had some fresh homemade blueberry icecream with some homemade mini blueberry muffins and it is sinful.
It’s taking a whole load of willpower not to go grab some more.
Being the old bugger that I am, I’m off to bed since I’m exhausted.
Night all and pleasant dreams.
Life in a Nutshell.: Late Night Musing About The Link Between "Perfect" and Richard Armitage
I’m wondering, is it bad that we’re putting Richard on a pedestal?
We keep saying that he’s perfect, but obviously, nobody is.
Is it bad that we seem to like the IDEA of who he is more than who he REALLY IS?
I know it’s next to impossible to actually KNOW who he really is because, maybe, none…
I know in my personal view of him he is not on a pedestal. When I am on tumblr tagging things and calling him perfect it is only in what I consider a “fan girl” moment. Personally I don’t even like the term fan girl, haha.
I am aware that he is a person like everyone else and is far from perfect. I think sometimes we want to see celebrities as perfect because they are our escape from reality. I think I am old enough to realize that he is not perfect and he has flaws just like everyone in the world. We will never really know the real RA because we do not interact with him on a daily basis. We just know who he is through interviews and public appearances. I am personally okay with that. I would rather keep the illusion of the RA (among other celebrities) that I have come to known through interviews and public appearances. Not to say that I would be disappointed if I got to know RA on a personal level, but then it would just be a different feeling.
okay this got long sorry :)
There is absolutely nothing wrong with looking up to someone for whatever reason regardless of who they are. The problem’s begin when people blur the lines between “being a fan” and they start to become obsessive/possessive to the point where reality has little bearing in regards their “idol”
I’m as guilty of fawning over certain photo’s of particular actors as anyone, again it’s natural and doesn’t do any harm. In fact it’s good stress relief.
Of course it’s the idea of who a person is that draws us, especially since we are outside looking in, the reality could be so very different but then that is the nature of being famous etc…people either admire you for who you are (or rather appear to be) or they admire the work you do. Of course quite often both applies.
Don’t worry about what you feel etc as long as you keep a firm grip on reality.
The weird thing about having finished a piece of artwork is that after the euphoria of seeing a job well done, I nearly always end up so blasted drained and emotionally exhausted.
Yesterday after I completed the painting of Sir Edward Elgar I was on a high, almost in a manic frame of mind and yet today I find myself totally listless and on edge.
I’ve always said that for me being creative and actually fulfilling that urge is a very sensual thing, it’s akin to sex in so many ways.
All I have to do now is wait for the next touch of inspiration to strike.

Here is the finished painting, my second one of Sir Edward Elgar.
I love it! The flesh tones and the blue tie/cravat are wonderful - we’re so used to seeing monochrome photos of people past that a splash of colour really brings the subject to life.
Thank you so much for the kind words, having people appreciate what I do makes the hard work worth while.
It’s actually quite good fun, using an old black and white photo for reference then researching what colour hair he had etc, I thought he would probably be quite healthy looking and tanned since he was so very fond of the great outdoors.

When this happened I couldn’t stop giggling, love the fact that Holmes jumped straight into a midden (outside toilet for the more modern amongst you)
Wonderful touch of comedy, especially with Watson closing the window so nonchalantly.
